Sunshine State!

As many argue that winter in Florida is the best weather in the United States, and many travelers come to experience relief from cold winters elsewhere, I would have to agree from my previous trips down and the fact that Vermont is nice and chilly these days, let me tell you!  However, travelers to Florida will need to prepare for some of the unique elements of winter in the Sunshine State. Here are a few tips for travelers to consider.

1) Prepare for All Weather

Weather in Florida tends to be unpredictable, and winter in Florida is especially difficult to project ahead of time. While temperatures rarely drop below 40 degrees in Florida even during winter, it is not uncommon for the temperature to reach into the 80s during cold months. Because of this, travelers will want to ensure that they are prepared for weather conditions that can change rapidly. Fortunately, winter weather in Florida is fairly pleasant, but travelers will want to be ready for a wide range of temperatures.  I think this advice would apply more for the January/ early February time frame as we went in late February and the weather was an average of about 80 for us and its only going up!!!  But it’s better to be safe than sorry!

2) Plan Ahead

Florida's population changes dramatically depending on the season.  In winter, Florida becomes home to many people from the Midwest and the Northeast.  Because of this, travelers to Florida want to make their reservations ahead of time just to be safe.  It should be noted, however, that Florida's infrastructure is ready for this influx of visitors and temporary residents, so travelers should not be too concerned about bad traffic and difficulty in making reservations, especially if you travel to a tourist area like Orlando, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, etc.!

3) Spend Some Time at the Beach

While the water may be a bit too cold for swimming, you will want to spend at least a bit of time at the beach while visiting Florida. The beach can be a great place to spend an afternoon or evening, and many of Florida's best restaurants and tourist locations are located near the coast. In addition, those on the east coast of Florida may wish to explore the barrier islands, which is home to some of the most interesting locations in the state. Fortunately, all locations in Florida are relatively close to the beach so all travelers can at least make a day trip and spent some time watching the waves.

Those who have been to Florida in the winter understand its appeal, and those who have never been to the Sunshine State may wish to visit in winter. With a bit of preparation, travelers can ensure that their winter trips to Florida will be enjoyable and memorable.  Great trip to make to get some sun in the winter!
P.S. for you eco-friendly comrades out there, there is a South Florida Chapter of the USGBC.

Storage ideas ...

After a one week rush with lots of things to do on my list, finally I managed to update you with brand new post. Many of you asked me about my jewelry collection and how I organized it, so here it is! ;)
Last year I made a new additional closet with my dad, and these drawers were the best thing that I decided to add. As we are not professionals, I gotta admit that it wasn't the easiest thing to do while we were measuring and trying to make them equal by installing them. But it really worth it at the end.
Now, I have place where I can organize every single item which was hard to keep in order before.
Draw for flowers, bracelets, belts or sunglasses, make up or whatever you want, hidden inside of your closet! Am I smart or what? ;)

p.s. I will give my best to answer to all of your questions today!
p.p.s. the last photo is a little sneak peek into my next outfit post or a proof  how durable my closet is ! ;)

Belgian Spring Beer Fests article in BUZE Magazine

I'm happy to say that I have a nearly 1,000 word piece on
three of Belgium's best spring beer festivals in the second
issue of BUZE Magazine.

BUZE is a digital magazine targeted at tablets like iPads.
The first two issues are available for the iPad, and for issue
3, it should be compatible with Amazon Kindle Fire HD as
well.

I cover the superb Toer de Geuze, the open house where many
of Belgium's lambic producers open their doors to the public
for a day, every two years. It is Sunday, April 21st this year.

The Zythos Beer Festival, Belgium's premier beer fest, is
also a focus. There should be close to 500 beers on offer
on April 27-28 in Leuven.

The Weekend of Spontaneous Fermentation is the third in
this trio. It's focus, as the name suggests, is lambic-based
brews. It will be held May 25-26 this year, in Buggenhout,
East Flanders.

You can read about these fantastic events by downloading
the BUZE app at the iTunes store here

Cost is $3.99 for a single issue or $19.99 for a year.

Enjoy!

Microbrouwerij Urthel and De Hoppeschuur

I'm happy to say that I have a nearly 1,000 word article on
the new project of Hildegard and Bas van Ostaden in the
February/March issue of Celebrator Beer News.

I wrote about Microbrouweij Urthel on these pages in
January 2012. You can read that post here

De Hoppeschuur ("The Hop Barn") restaurant

My first visit was in September 2011, and I returned for
a second visit-and a meal-at the new De Hoppeschuur
restaurant in December 2012. De Hoppeschuur means
"The Hop Barn," and the excellent new restaurant is
adjacent to the brewery.

You can read about it in on pages 2, 8 and 45 at:
http://www.fricke-parks.com/CBN_Feb_Mar13/#/0/

I urge anyone that can to visit this fine brewery and
restaurant located in the countryside of West Flanders,
Belgium!

                                                                                       ph. via Pinterest board Mornings

You already know how much I love almost everything when it comes to food. But probably one of my favorite meals during the day, except sweets, is definitely breakfast. Because of that fact and the one that I simply adore great food photos, I started collecting one more board on the Pinterest, called Mornings (click Here).
Milk and cookies, fresh or toasted sandwiches, pancakes, omelet, veggies,  deliciousness on every corner! Can't stop myself!
What are are your breakfast favorites?
